{All this week I will be compiling my favorite gifts for the upcoming holiday season! Click on the name of the product to be taken to my blog post about why I love each product!}
Today on the holiday gift round-up, gifts for the beautiful ladies in your life! Not to be left out, guys can also use these products for glowing skin and hair. You deserve to be pampered too, you know?
You can't go wrong with these beauty products! I love getting face wash, lotion, etc. for Christmas gifts because it throws in a few practical gifts with the fun, non-practical ones!
The other night, the hub and I were headed out on a hot date and I saw this on Pinterest...
And I knew I had to try it out that night!
It couldn't have been easier and once Charlotte arrives, I know it will be a great go-to hairstyle that looks so much more difficult than it really is!
First, I did a sock bun, (click here to see a great description of how to do the sock bun from a sweet friend of mine!), but I left out a small piece of hair for the braid. I did a simple braid, wrapped it around the bun and secured it with a few bobby pins!
It's no secret around here that I am a fan of dirty hair.
But having dirty hair really is an art because it looks best when in a super cute style! Enter the Fishtail braid.
Braids are my favorite (remind anybody else of Elf? "Smiling is my favorite!") because they are effortless and can go from casual day into night. Perfect!
Sometimes the layers in my hair make it tricky to keep all the pieces in with a normal braid but a fishtail braid is perfect for tucking in all those pesky layers!
The Beauty Department, Lauren Conrad's beauty website, has a great video tutorial on how to fishtail braid your hair. In the video, they use a clear rubber band to keep the hair in place at the top and then cut the rubber band out at the end. Well, I didn't like that for two reasons.
1. I'm cheap and don't want to keep buying clear ties.
2. Knowing me, I would forget to go and cut it out and not realize it until hours later.
So, I improvised and simply (and gently) make the tie larger with my fingers and pull it over the fishtail until it's out! Voila- perfect fishtail AND no hair tie waste.
I like these colored hair ties from Sephora that are snagless and stretch easier and last longer than the clear elastic ties.
(see here for all previous posts in the I really love my... series!)
I really love my Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray! I am a huge fan of dirty hair, let's not beat around the bush here, and this spray really helps my hair last longer throughout the week between washes. I've tried more dry shampoos and spray than I can count but when my hairstylist recommended this one to me- I've been hooked ever since.
It is a little more pricey than I was typically spending but it is worth every penny! There are few hair products that I religiously buy over and over again and this is #1 on that list. It's invisible when sprayed on, removes grease and oil and is also great for adding texture and body when teasing.
Check with your hairstylist or you can buy it on the Oribe site here, Amazon.com, or multiple other online sites. The cost I've found consistently across the board is about $39. But who can put a price on dirty to clean hair?
This brush is perfect for my long, thick hair but I'm told it will work on any hair type and any length! I love how gently it de-tangles wet or dry hair and how light and smooth it leaves my hair. The bristles have an air-cushioned rubber pad underneath which helps leave hair static-free!
